Garden Rail

This page shows the developments of our Garden Railway. The project was started in August 2005 and is still under construction.  Here are some pictures and comments for the benefit of fellow enthusiasts.

This magnificent working Gauge 1 model of an Gresley A3 Class locomotive was built by Dave Parker of Buxton Model Works and was painted by Stuart Black.

The 'Gauge 1 Model Railway Association' has approx 2000 members worldwide. The Association was formed in 1947 and has built a enviable reputation for precision model engineering. At a scale of approx 1:32 to full size, 'Gauge 1' provides a delightful size in which to work, allowing even the minutest detail to be captured. It is also a perfect scale for outdoor operation and is ideal for scenic modelling in the garden.

Many 'Gauge 1' members build their own working locomotives (covering the complete span of traction - 'live' steam, diesel and electric), rolling stock and accessories. A key point being that, with a few notable exceptions, 'Gauge 1' is not widely available on the open market.
